CONTEXT

Crypto workflows are fragmented by default.

Users constantly switch between:

  • Multiple wallets
  • Different blockchain networks
  • Portfolio trackers
  • Trading interfaces
  • News and sentiment platforms
MY ROLE

Product Design · User Research · Information Architecture · QA

I worked across several core surfaces of the product:

  • Conducted user interviews and synthesized research insights
  • Built and managed an Airtable system to track user feedback and patterns
  • Designed the News system and For You feed
  • Created the article architecture and card hierarchy
  • Designed market signal components including sentiment and trend indicators
  • Designed the portfolio surface and privacy mode
  • Contributed to trading entry flows and cross-chain clarity
  • Led product QA to ensure the experience shipped as intended
RESEARCH

Before shaping the interface, we focused on understanding trader behavior.

I conducted interviews with multiple user segments including beginners entering crypto, traditional investors transitioning from Web2 finance, active traders seeking automation, and crypto-native users operating across chains. Insights from these interviews were documented and organized in Airtable to track recurring patterns, pain points, and feature expectations.

Research surfaced several consistent themes: Users struggled with fragmented tools, market information overload, and portfolio visibility across wallets. These insights directly informed the design of Polaris' news surfaces, portfolio views, and entry flows.

PRODUCT STRUCTURE

Polaris was built around three core product surfaces:

Each surface needed to function independently while still feeling like part of the same system.

  • Market intelligence
  • Trading
  • Portfolio visibility
MARKET INTELLIGENCE

One of the primary surfaces I designed was the News and For You experience.

Crypto markets move quickly, and users constantly monitor sentiment and narrative shifts. Instead of forcing users to leave the platform to gather information, Polaris integrated market intelligence directly into the product. The system included:

  • A personalized For You feed
  • A Following tab for assets users track
  • Article card architecture optimized for scanning
  • Signal cards highlighting sentiment, market movement, and trending assets
TRADING EXPERIENCE

Polaris unified cross-chain trading into a single interface.

Polaris unified cross-chain trading into a single interface. Instead of manually switching networks or tools, users could search assets, view performance data, and execute trades in one place. The trading interface combined:

  • Token price analytics
  • Real-time chart data
  • Route discovery for cross-network swaps
  • Wallet balance awareness
  • Transaction previews before execution
PORTFOLIO

Polaris also introduced a unified portfolio surface.

Polaris also introduced a unified portfolio surface. Users could connect wallets and quickly view asset balances and performance without needing separate tracking tools. The portfolio interface focused on clarity and simplicity. Users could:

  • View wallet balances
  • Review asset performance
  • Inspect portfolio history
  • Toggle privacy mode to hide balances when needed
QA AND PRODUCT REFINEMENT

Designing Polaris reinforced a core principle of product design.

In addition to design work, I contributed heavily to product QA. This included reviewing product behavior across features and ensuring the interface shipped consistently with the design system. QA involved:

  • Validating interface states
  • Reviewing edge cases across trading flows
  • Identifying usability issues prior to release
  • Ensuring consistency across the news, trading, and portfolio surfaces
IMPACT

Polaris launched as a unified crypto platform used by over 50,000 traders.

Polaris launched as a unified crypto platform used by over 50,000 traders. The product consolidated several previously fragmented workflows:

  • Market intelligence
  • Cross-chain trading
  • Portfolio visibility
REFLECTION

Designing Polaris reinforced a core principle of product design.

Complex systems do not need to feel complicated. The challenge was not adding features — it was structuring information so users could move confidently through a complex environment. When systems are clear, everything moves faster.
